Tosinvest breathes new life into Botteghe Oscure: the historic headquarters of the Italian Communist Party becomes a five-star hotel

The historic headquarters of the Italian Communist Party in Via delle Botteghe Oscure is preparing for a new lease of life. The prestigious Roman building, now owned by Tosinvest, will soon open as a five-star hotel belonging to the international Hyatt chain.

In the heart of the capital, between Piazza Venezia and Torre Argentina, a few steps from Piazza del Gesù, the building will house seventy luxury rooms, combining historical heritage with a new vocation for hospitality excellence.

Built in 1938 and becoming the headquarters of the Italian Communist Party in 1946, the building has been the scene of key moments in Italian political history: from Enrico Berlinguer’s famous speech in 1976 to Giorgio Almirante’s tribute in 1984.

The Superintendency has planned to preserve symbols of identity such as Giò Pomodoro’s entrance hall with its five-pointed gold star, the bust of Antonio Gramsci, and the flag of the Paris Commune, so that memory remains alive alongside modernity.

With this operation, Tosinvest confirms its long-term vision, transforming historic assets into valuable projects that combine tradition, prestige, and international scope.
