To celebrate Il Giornale’s anniversary, an event at Ibm studios in Milan with major players in business and economics
Fifty years of the Newspaper. Half a century of Italian history and current events. The milestone was celebrated at Ibm Studios in Milan with an event that concluded an episodic journey through major Italian cities. The newspaper’s signatures were thus confronted with the great protagonists of the economy and business in our country, to explore the new frontiers of progress, growth, and intelligent sustainability.
Many topics were addressed in the panels of the closing day with the aim of returning to bet on the future, on innovation, on a technology that measures the impact on the Earth. A journey between the burning current events and the news, between memories of the newspaper’s history – intertwined with that of founder Indro Montanelli – and the present.
Editor Alessandro Sallusti introduced the event and then left the floor to Paolo Berlusconi, the historic editor of Il Giornale who remembered his brother Silvio. The highlight of the day came with Sallusti’s conversation with Premier Giorgia Meloni , who between a dinner in Brussels and an engagement in Rome managed to keep her promise to take the stage at Portrait. Finally, a face-to-face between Nicola Porro and Mike Pompeo, celebrated former U.S. secretary of state and, among other things, a prestigious columnist for Il Giornale. This was followed by an evening of celebration, amid canapés and toasts with politicians, institutional figures, VIPs and entrepreneurs. Among them were also Sen. Ignazio La Russa, President of the Senate; Hon. Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Sen. Matteo Salvini, Vice President of the Council of Ministers; Hon. Matteo Piantedosi, Minister of the Interior; Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region; Luigi Brugnaro, Mayor of Venice; Hon. Antonio Angelucci, member of the Chamber of Deputies and publisher of Il Giornale, Vittorio Feltri, Editorial Director of Il Giornale, Giovanni Malagò, President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Angelino Alfano, former Minister of Justice, Letizia Moratti, MEP, Daniele Capezzone, Editorial Director of Libero Quotidiano, Marco Tronchetti Provera, entrepreneur, Nicola Speroni, CEO of Il Giornale, Remo Ruffini, CEO of Moncler, Hoara Borselli, TV host, Paolo Del Debbio, essayist and journalist, Stefano Zecchi, philosopher and writer.
Thus was completed the first part of the celebration of this half-century of life and battles of Il Giornale, suspended between news and history. In the previous weeks , editors Antonio and Giampaolo Angelucci together with Vittorio Feltri and Alessandro Sallusti were received by Pope Francis at the Vatican and by President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale. Solemn and evocative moments that testify to the strength and centrality of our newspaper in the country and its ability to interpret its soul as well.
