(ANSA) – PERUGIA, April 5 – Gruppo Corriere Srl, the publishing company behind the Corriere newspaper, including editions for Corriere dell’Umbria, Viterbo, Rieti, Siena, Arezzo, and Maremma, has officially been sold from Edi.B S.p.A., controlled by Cementerie Barbetti S.p.A., to Finanziaria Tosinvest S.p.A.

This was announced in a statement released by the Umbrian newspaper.

“With this acquisition,” the communiqué continues, “Finanziaria Tosinvest will strengthen its presence in the publishing sector, with a particular focus on local information, where Corriere dell’Umbria—having increased its readership by approximately 20% in the 2011-2012 period (Audipress 2012/III data)—is an element of excellence and has been the undisputed leader in the region for thirty years. The other newspapers serve as primary references for information in their respective territories.”

In the coming days, a meeting will be convened to appoint the new Board of Directors. Dr. Antonella Barbetti will serve as honorary president, the statement concludes.
